I’m about a half a day away from summer and I can not wait! In a way this year feels like it flew by, but there were definitely some times that I felt time had stopped. Today’s post is all about some of my favorite items from this month and things I’ve been loving lately!
New hair!
I was so excited to get this new do! A friend of mine, who works at a local salon here in the area, (an awesome salon), posted on her story asking for volunteers that would be willing to go purple or a rose gold. The second I saw it I have course had to sit in her DM! I chose to go with rose gold and I absolutely love how it turned out! I can’t say I was a little shocked at first and a little nervous when it was wet… My hair looked like it was orange. But she quickly came over and relieved me, reminding me it would look different once dried! She was so right… I am in love with the color!
Thanks Tiffany- AVBS
Working Out and Feeling Amazing!
I’ve been doing 21day fix again for the fifth time and I am definitely feeling good! I’ve been enjoying the workouts again, but I need to work on the meal prep side. When I first got married I went on this plan because I had gained weight within that year and I just had to try something. So I ended up seeing an infomercial, yes… I know right?! and I decided to buy the DVDs and the meal plan prep containers. There are so many awesome meals that you can make on 21 day fix and really you can eat just about everything, it’s just more about portion control.
Dave and I will be going on a trip and I want to look good, so I decided to give 21 day fix another shot. I enjoy the workouts and getting myself pumped up!
New Weights!
I got some new weights to keep making progress on my 21 day fix workouts!
Skakeology!
I had never had shakeology before, but I was so interested in trying it! I had heard awesome things about it and I decided to give it a try. So glad I did! I ended up getting the vegan trip option to try vanilla, chocolate and cafe late! Sooo good! Here are a couple of my favorite recipes I’ve tried!
I wanna try the recipes below soon!
200 blog posts!!!
Y’all I can’t even believe that I have been blogging for two years and I just published my 200th blog post! It made me so happy to be able to see all I’ve accomplished with this blog and I can’t wait to see what else will come!
Fire Roasted Caprese Cauliflower Pizza!
I’ve always been intrigued by cauliflower crust and I’ve been trying to find a really great cauliflower pizza… well, I think I found it! Bricktown Brewery’s fire roasted caprese cauliflower pizza was seriously amazing! Dave and I both were flabbergasted… is that still a word? when we tried the pizza and almost could have sworn it was regular pizza!!! Sooooo good! So pretty much what I’m saying is, you have to try this pizza!
The Fanny Pack!
Who could’ve predicted that the fanny pack would be back in full force?! I ended up getting a fanny pack from a couple students the night of our last orchestra concert and I have been enjoying pairing it with different outfits and rocking the new style!
My last orchestra concert at Carver Middle!
This was one of the most beautiful nights of music, celebrations and appreciation. The students had worked so hard and I could not wait for them to show off their hard work! I was completely surprised by the emotions of the students as they expressed how much they loved having me as their teacher and with tears in all of our eyes, we knew that we had achieved a ton! Here’s what I wrote the day of the concert and it was my heart:
Long post ahead: 6 years…. 822 students… 42 performances… my first BIG girl job!
Today is my last orchestra concert at Carver. I knew the day would come sometime, but it’s hard to believe that that day is actually here. This was my first big girl job and it has been an amazing adventure. I have found support, encouragement, have so many memories- some hard but many good, And so many moments of pure joy! When I think of the years here at Carver, while some days have been hard, I feel that I have become a better person because of being a teacher here. It’s hard for me to even put into words how special this job has been to me and the students that I’ve been able to invest in. It’s hard for me to even put into words how special this job has been to me and for the opportunity to impact so many students. Because I teach orchestra, I get the awesome opportunity to be with some students for 3 years, making memories, becoming a family, getting on each other‘s nerves, and creating magic. The moments when everything fades away and we’re just one with each other, working on a project , creating something bigger than ourselves- Those are the moments that I hope the students will remember and take into their lives as they grow.
I am definitely a very sensitive person and I feel a lot of emotions when I’m passionate about something… I’m passionate about Orchestra and my kids— passionate about sharing the joy of music with them, and about reminding students that they can achieve great things with hard work and determination. We’ve shared a lot with each other… We’ve shared funny moments, sad moments, joyful moments, fearful moments, anxious and stressed moments, and honest moments, and become a family! Being very sensitive, it’s funny to me that one of the goals every year for the students is to make me cry while they’re performing a piece. They know if they accomplish this, they have played the best to the best of their ability, with passion, excellence, but most of all with beauty, elegance, and grace.
While this is my last concert at Carver, they (all 822 of them) will forever hold a special place in my heart!
I got to announce my new position!
So what’s next?… Growing up I was blessed to have the same orchestra teacher for seven years during my middle school and high school career… I have often thought about those experiences and I know I am who I am today because of this experience! So I think it’s time to announce that I will begin this journey in the fall! I am thrilled to announce that I am the new orchestra director at Reed Academy and Hillcrest High School here in Springfield for 2019-2020. –

I can not wait to begin this new journey and I can not thank my friend, Lisa, the current teacher, for all her years of hard work, dedication, and incredible encouragement and support! –
