Let me introduce you to this months Boss Babe!!!Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, standing

Tell me a little about yourself:

My name is Brianna Barnett and I am a 20 year old college student.  I am taking this semester off to get this venture up and running.  I really love hanging out with friends and family.  I am a Christian and am very involved in my faith.  I trying to bring my faith more and more into the business every day.  I have always been in love with the fashion industry and knew I wanted to go into it.

Did you grow up in the Springfield area?

I was born in Springfield and moved to Joplin for a few years but I have been living here since I was 7! So yes, I did grow up in Springfield(:

Tell me about your cute business and how you came up with the idea?

This business started out as last fall when I decided I wanted to open up my own boutique.  I even found the most ADORABLE building in Billings, MO that I wanted to lease.  But after doing more research I realized I would not be able to afford rent for a building.  So my mom and I did what anyone else would do…we got on Pinterest, lol.  She found the idea of a traveling boutique that are located in bigger cities.  We then met with a lady who owns her own traveling boutique in St. Louis and asked her about a bazillion questions.  After that meeting we realized this is something that I can afford and could actually accomplish.  That next week I purchased the truck(:

That is so exciting and i’m sure a little nerve wrecking all at once!I also love what you’ve done with the truck… check out the before and after pic! Image may contain: 2 people, people smiling, outdoor

What types of things do you sell?

Our goal is to cater to the “Everyday Woman”.  With that being said, our sizes range from Small-3XL and everything in the truck is under $50.  We do have several items closer to the $50, but that is why we also have smaller/cheaper items for people who cannot afford a $45 pair of jeans, etc.  But we have basic (camis, tanks, solid cardigans, dresses, etc.), along with Judy Blue jeans, oversized sweaters/cardigans, and lots of fun knick knacks! Such as coffee mugs, tea towels, stickers, buttons, fabric pumpkins…you name it, we have it! (or hopefully we do).

I have seen some super cute items on your Instagram page and I’ve been swooning! Also, Paige continues to share all of her lovely finds from your shop too… makes it hard for me to not go on a shopping spree! I love that your goal is to cater to the “Everday Woman”- AMAZING!

What is your favorite part of the business so far?

My favorite part of the business is that my mom has partnered up with me.  We have a really close relationship and I asked her if she wanted to be apart of this adventure and she said YES!  She even quit her job to do this with me(:

OMG… that is the sweetest! How cool to be able to work with your mom! So is this a full time job for you, or are you doing this as a side hustle?

This is in fact my full time job.  My mom and I did not realize just how much goes into owning and operating a small business.

Well, Congrats, girl! That is seriously amazing! Do you have some favorite products or items you’ve bought for the truck?

My favorite thing to buy for the truck has been the basic clothing.  I really LOVE this particular brand we buy and what i love most is that it is SO comfortable and SOOO affordable!!

Do you have an online store up? Or is it primarily the traveling truck?

We do not have an online store at the moment.  We do have a website with tons of information about what we are and what we offer, so my goal is to add an online store either this winter or next year.  BUT if anyone wants an item they see on social media, we do ship(:

Here’s her Instagram to see some of the clothing!

So good to know! Okay, so the truck… where in the world did you find this truck? It’s perfect!

We found the truck on craigslist and purchased it on the first of January.  The truck was a 1990 SnapOn Tool truck, which had been sitting around for 2 years so it needed a lot of maintenance.  We got the truck back from the shop in March and  completely gutted the inside.  March-September 14th was spent getting everything ready for the inside, buying merchandise, and getting all the final touches on the truck.

Well, I can tell you’ve worked really hard to make this business a success! It’s such a fun business too! Congratulations! What advise do you have for others wanting to start a business?

If you are serious about starting a business and following you dreams, DO NOT GIVE UP! It will be so hard and there will be times where you question, “Is this really worth it?” BUT IT IS! Do your research, ask for advice and find a support system.  YOU CAN DO THIS!
