Staying stylish in the Cold Weather

Ok, so this last couple of weeks here in Springfield have seriously been insane weather wise. I mean my wardrobe has been back and forth from a light jacket to my heaviest winter coat, beanie, gloves and a scarf. So when it’s frigid and Oh so cold, how do you keep from just wearing sweats all day long? Well I decided to do a small blog post with some stylish suggestions and inspirations for those times it’s REALLY cold and you just want to stay curled up under the covers and keep those sweat pants on.

I am most definitely an accessories girl-I love all kinds of jewelry, boots, hats and of course, scarves and coats, so you will definitely see a lot of those things in this post. I’ve thrown together some of my favorite looks for this winter for some inspiration and just for fun. Most of these outfits I’ve paired with a hat or a beanie, because I would literally wear a hat every day for the rest of my life if I could!

A simple scarf can make an outfit look different, while brighting it up during the dreary winter months. I wear so many different scarves throughout the winter, for practicality, and to add a bit of color and fun to my outfits. And I can be found in sweater after sweater throughout the season.

Here’s another pick with one of my favorite scarves!

Layers on top of Layers
I love the layered look! Wearing lots of layers gives your look some texture and helps you stay comfy and cozy. And with temperatures being really cold outside, but warmer inside, it gives you some options when stripping down. I don’t know about you, but It may be super cold outside, but when I get to the school and start moving around in my room, I get super hot and have to start taking things off. I just bought this gray no sleeve sweater and I absolutely love it! I have worn it now with a dress, short sleeved shirts, and with a long sleeve shirt similar to what is featured. It keeps me warm, but is easy to take off when I get too warm.

Plaid!
Plaid shirts are some of my favorite go-to shirts! They are simple, stylish and Oh, so comfy! Wear it buttoned up, or open with a white tee or around the waist… it is a perfect cozy shirt to be worn multiple ways. I have even worn some of my plaid shirts with skirts to get a cute casual look- perfect for those days at school where I don’t feel like dressing up and it’s not jean Friday yet.

Colored Jeans!
Colored Jeans are so much fun! While I love leggings, colored jeans create a similar look, but with their thicker fabric are great for winter. I love my cranberry pants! They help add a pop of color to my clothing and can help to dress an outfit up.

Denim Jacket!
I. am. obsessed. with this jacket! First, I love this trend and feel in love with this jacket when I saw a friend wearing it at the women’s conference and Second, I just love denim. And I love wearing beanies during the winter and this look reminds me so much of the 90’s!

  1. I’m loving all of these looks, Erin! I just bought a pair of over-the-knee boots that look so similar to the ones you are wearing in your picture, but they are olive green. I love how you are wearing yours with those leggings! I wasn’t sure how to wear them, but I loved their look so I just went ahead and bought them! I might need some of your fashion advice on what to pair them with =) I also love your pop of pink scarf! So much fun!
