May the parties begin!

May the fourth be with you and also with you!!! I don’t know about you, but I love Star Wars and always enjoy May the 4th!!!! Last year I had my strolling strings students play the Star War theme music over the speakers for announcements… It was Epic!!!! I had the students do this again today and my principal, Dr. Powers ( seriously a huge star wars fan), LOVED IT! This may just become a tradition!

Start the celebrations and have a Star Wars Party. Here are some ideas on food and drink and decor inspirations for your next Star Wars Party.  Make it a Star Wars Trivia party with your favorite themed cocktails. Here are a couple drinks you could make, courtesy of Liquor.com :

 BB-8 DARK & STORMY

Slide 2

A new take on the classic Dark & Stormy, this version is inspired by one of the series’ most lovable droids. The rum and ginger beer cocktail gets a simple twist with the addition of blueberry, creating a cute mimic of the appearance of BB-8’s face as a garnish.

Here’s the recipe!

Fill the glass to mostly full with your favorite ginger beer and some ice. I recommend Bundaberg. It’s pretty good. Then, top it off by slowly pouring in the rum. I used 1-2 shots, depending on the person’s preference.

Pouring the rum in slowly allows the alcohol to sit nicely on top of the ginger beer to create that layered effect. To garnish this cocktail, I quartered a lime and used a toothpick to hold in a blueberry to recreate BB-8’s little head. Use a knife to adjust the lime to sit on the glass.

5 INGREDIENT GINGER BEER MARGARITAS

Ginger Beer meets Margarita!

5 Ingredient GINGER BEER Margs! Friggin' delicious

This fun drink comes from one of my favorite blogs: abeautifulmess.com!

This drink is simple – as always – with flavors that were seemingly meant for each other: Ginger beer, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, tequila, and salt for your rim (a must).

Just remember, the key to picking a good tequila is: Make sure it’s made with 100% agave. Then you’ll know it’s higher quality and made with the good stuff. This will ultimately affect the quality of your drinks.

This recipe is so easy to make. Just lime your rim with lime juice and salt, then add all of your ingredients with ice to a large glass or cocktail shaker and stir (as to not erupt your ginger beer – lesson learned). Then pour over more ice, garnish with lime and stir.

5-Ingredient margaritas made with ginger beer and fresh lime juice! Simple, flavorful and so delicious. The only margarita recipe you’ll ever need.
Author: Minimalist Baker
Recipe type: Beverage
Cuisine: Mexican
Serves: 1
Ingredients
  • 1.5 ounces (3 Tablespoons) 100% agave tequila (such as Altos)
  • 1 ounce (2 Tbsp) fresh lime juice
  • 3 ounces (6 Tbsp) ginger beer
  • .5 ounce (1 Tbsp) simple syrup
  • Coarse salt for lining rim
Instructions
  1. Line a small serving glass with fresh lime juice and dip in coarse salt (optional).
  2. Add tequila, simple syrup, ginger beer and lime juice to a large glass or cocktail shaker with 1/2 cup ice and stir vigorously. Don’t shake with a lid on or it will erupt from the ginger beer carbonation (lesson learned).
  3. Pour liquid (reserving ice) into serving glass with a few ice cubes (we just ordered this oversized ice cube mold and LOVE it). Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately. Repeat for more drinks, or double/triple the amounts for more people.

Or Maybe you really just want some Corona’s with lime!!! Drink it from the bottle or make it cuter by placing it in a different glass and garnishing it with a lime or edible flowers.

Enjoy!!!!!

Now you are ready to party with food… what about the decor?

Well the nice thing is that with Cinco De Mayo, the brighter the better! Grab the brightest coolest flowers you see at the store and place them in some vases, or painted wine bottles.  Maybe add some lemons or limes in the bass to add a little more pop of color. Pretty centerpiece/decoration
