Margarita Time… It’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Here are a couple recipes I have found and enjoyed!
The Classic Margarita
Ingredients:
-
- kosher salt
- ice cubes
- 2 oz. tequila (I prefer silver or blanco)
- 1 and 1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 oz. simple syrup (if you don’t have any, make up a quick and easy batch or use agave nectar)
- 1/2 oz. Triple Sec
Directions: Add desired amount of Salt around rim. Add 2 hand fulls of ice into the shaker and add the remaining ingredients and shake for 10 sec.
5 INGREDIENT GINGER BEER MARGARITAS
Ginger Beer meets Margarita!
This fun drink comes from one of my favorite blogs: abeautifulmess.com!
This drink is simple – as always – with flavors that were seemingly meant for each other: Ginger beer, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, tequila, and salt for your rim (a must).
Just remember, the key to picking a good tequila is: Make sure it’s made with 100% agave. Then you’ll know it’s higher quality and made with the good stuff. This will ultimately affect the quality of your drinks.
This recipe is so easy to make. Just lime your rim with lime juice and salt, then add all of your ingredients with ice to a large glass or cocktail shaker and stir (as to not erupt your ginger beer – lesson learned). Then pour over more ice, garnish with lime and stir.
- 1.5 ounces (3 Tablespoons) 100% agave tequila (such as Altos)
- 1 ounce (2 Tbsp) fresh lime juice
- 3 ounces (6 Tbsp) ginger beer
- .5 ounce (1 Tbsp) simple syrup
- Coarse salt for lining rim
- Line a small serving glass with fresh lime juice and dip in coarse salt (optional).
- Add tequila, simple syrup, ginger beer and lime juice to a large glass or cocktail shaker with 1/2 cup ice and stir vigorously. Don’t shake with a lid on or it will erupt from the ginger beer carbonation (lesson learned).
- Pour liquid (reserving ice) into serving glass with a few ice cubes (we just ordered this oversized ice cube mold and LOVE it). Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately. Repeat for more drinks, or double/triple the amounts for more people.
Or Maybe you really just want some Corona’s with lime!!! Drink it from the bottle or make it cuter by placing it in a different glass and garnishing it with a lime or edible flowers.
Enjoy!!!!!
Now you are ready to party with food… what about the decor?
Well the nice thing is that with Cinco De Mayo, the brighter the better! Grab the brightest coolest flowers you see at the store and place them in some vases, or painted wine bottles. Maybe add some lemons or limes in the bass to add a little more pop of color.
This is an easy way to bring in more colors: Tissue roses along one of your entry ways!!! Love this!
It’s a taco party!!!! Add some desert cacti balloons and Yellow plates and small cacti to the tables… Super cute party look!
Don’t forget to make a cute photo booth area with lots of colorful props… add some mustaches, sombrero hats, streamers, fun Spanish sayings, Maracas, and of course a banner saying “Cinco De Mayo”!
Here’s to your parties….. Enjoy!!!!!
