Dave and I had been looking forward to this weekend for a couple months now! We both love John Mayer so much… i mean, how could you not?!!! He is an amazing musician, very talented guitarist and he is one of the finest song writers I have ever heard. He has a way of writing about people and events in a beautiful, poetic way.  If you haven’t heard his new CD “The Search for Everything,” it is a Must! Soooo good!

One of my favorite songs on the CD is ” Love on the weekends,”- makes me think about my husband and ourrelationship. Both Dave and I have been extrememly busy lately with him doing lots of homework for his classes, and me scheduling and working on teaching plans, and teaching classes, but we try our best to still have date nights and fun outings when we can. Here are the 1st couple verses of the song:

It’s a Friday, we finally made it
I can’t believe I get to see your face
You’ve been working and I’ve been waiting
To pick you up and take you from this place
Love on the weekend, love on the weekend
Like only we can, like only we can
Love on the weekend, love on the weekend
I’m coming up and I’m loving every minute of it
Love, Love, Love!!!! It was really a beautiful evening of incredible music with great friends and my hubby!
Not only did we have a fantastic time at the concert, but I finally got to stay in one of the hotels on the Country Club Plaza. Seven years of living in Kansas City growing up, and I never had the opportunity! It was a beautiful suite with an incredible view of the downtown plaza and a staple of Kansas City- the fountains! Kansas City is known as the “City of Fountains,” and rightly named since the city has 200 fountains!  Also- there were these really interesting short wood doors lining the hallway to our room, which I later read were refrigerators.
The Country Club Plaza is a must visit when in Kansas City!!!!

After the concert we got to meet up with a couple friends at the Power and light District and get a couple drinks at the “Flying Saucer.” Now to make things easier when trying to meet up with some friends, setting a meet up point ahead of time would be rather smart. It took us about 20 min to try and figure out where our friends were and what restaurants  in the Power and Light district they were near.
If you enjoy dancing, bands, drinks and good food, the power and light district is for you!

Brunch!!!

This morning before leaving we went for brunch!!! I LOVE BRUNCH… AND MIMOSAS! That is what I was hoping for when I talked about brunch, but with limited time, we had to choose a different restaurant that what I had thought. We landed on a place right down the street from our hotel, right on the plaza- The Loft. The decor was very fresh with light wood furniture and accents, gray walls with white borders, and cool modern lights and features. It was a super healthy breakfast place, which was a pleasant change from the day before’s meals. I tried the blue berry, Quinoa, almond, honey  fruit and granola blends, the green juice with celery, cucumbers, apples, ginger, and lemon, and the “Park Place” iced coffee!!!! It was magnificent- All of it!!!
