It is the middle of my spring break and I have so loved having the time off to rest, enjoy time with the hubby and friends, and of course, stay in my p.j’s all day!!! That’s exactly what I did Today!
Went to my best friends house last night for a sleep over… and yes, adults still do sleep overs. Well kind of… lol. We just end up going to bed a whole lot earlier and completely being cheesy and watching things like, ” When calls the Heart” – But when you have a great friend that will do that with you, you count yourself real lucky. Cat and I have been best friends for over 10 years and I can truly say that she has blessed my life and made me a better person from having her in my life.
Before our fun night of Qdoba and ” when calls the heart,” we went to James River’s Prayer service. I really needed time with God and it was so nice to be able to go and reflect and be in His sweet presence.
The message was about Elijah and Elisha, proximity, perseverance, and passion. Elijah was a wonderful man of God and before he was taken up to Heaven, Elisha was faced with the decision to continue on the path with Elijah or go his own way. But even given a way out by Elijah ever time, Elisha continued to go along with him, saying, ” As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” He wanted to be close to Elijah until the very end… he didn’t want to just have the experiences from many years of following him, but he wanted every single possible experience with him. When Elijah knew his time was coming, he asked Elisha what he wanted and Elisha said ” A double portion of your spirit.” He didn’t just want to have the stories, memories, or knowledge of the things Elijah had done, but he wanted that and more. Proximity matters- who are the people that you look up to? Are you getting closer to God? If we are getting closer to God, we should begin to look like Him. Be passionate about God, get close to him and persevere.
Today has been a wonderful day of thinking on the message from Last night, being cozy in my P.J’s and watching Downton Abbey, while working on some photo booth props for my friend Sara’s baby girl’s 1st birthday. Pics to come soon.
And Dave and I just finished an amazing TV series, ” Friday Night Lights.” I am so sad to be at the end of this series- If you have not seen this show, it is a MUST see! I think the family is seriously one of the best TV families I have ever grown to love. There have been so many “tear moments” throughout the 5 seasons and the thing that I love most about this series is that the coach pushes his guys to limits that they thought were impossible and he makes it possible for them… That is a great leader!
So basically… you should have sleep overs with best friends, go to the prayer meeting and get some Jesus time, watch shows that make you laugh and cry, and become an awesome leader! We were all made for GREATNESS!!!!
First comment!!! Love you so much babe and I think it’s so cool that you’re going to share your thoughts and life experiences to share hope and inspiration to others! If anyone can get half as much inspiration as you give me they will be blessed!!
