Happy Mother’s Day everyone! Since today is Sunday, but also mother’s day, I decided that my Sharing Sunday Post would be all about mothers. I am by far no genius when it comes to motherhood… I’ve never had any babies of my own. I do consider my students at school my kids, but I know that it’s still very different. I can not even imagine the love that a mother has for her baby, but I’m sure it has to be so incredibly great. I am so incredibly in love with my nieces and my heart almost wants to explode as I’m around them, can’t even imagine what the love for my own baby will be like. So while I am not a mother, I wanted to share a little about my mom, give you some encouragement, and leave you with a couple bible verses for mom’s.
Where do I even begin talking about my mom?!!! I mean, over the last couple years in particular, I have realized how truly blessed I have been to have my mom as my mother. For those that may be new around here, I am a middle school orchestra teacher and I can not tell you the number of times my heart has broken for those children whose parents couldn’t care less about what they are doing in school, or the fact that they have a performance. I have had a couple students in particular who have played in orchestra for 3 years and their parents have never come to watch. How?! This breaks my heart and the more and more I have seen and heard these stories, I have realized that I had a great family and a great mother. There are so many amazing qualities that I could list off about my mom, but something that I admire so much about her is her love of God and family.
I don’t remember a time not going to church.. I was pretty much in the church every Sunday, every Sunday night, and Wednesday night. I remember my mom always being super involved in women’s ministry and her bible studies. She many times would be doing her devos and I know many times when I visit home even now, she wants to share with me her devotional or read it to me over breakfast. She strives to be closer to God and I believe my mom is one of the most beautiful souls you will ever meet. She is genuine, encouraging, beautiful, a wonderful listener, and a friend to many. She is a light in her workplace and is constantly thinking of ways to encourage and make others happy. But along with her love of God and it being so apparent, she truly loves us, her family. She has always helped me and encouraged me, always listened when I needed a sounding board, always lifted me up, always giving me wisdom and advise, and she always is looking out for my best interest. She was always present at all of my concerts, recitals, she drove me to lessons, made sure I was working on what I needed to to succeed, and she was always going above and beyond because she loves us.
Mothers if I can give you any advise, from a daughters perspective, you don’t have to have it all together all the time or be the most cool pinterest mom, all you need to do is love your kids and be there for them. Be present in their lives, invest in their lives, ask them about their lives and be interested- this will mean the world to them then and forever. I feel like we as people get so wrapped up in the social media world and i’m sure you’ve seen those mom’s who have the most beautiful page and look like they have it all together, and maybe some of them do, but you’ve allowed that to make you feel less confident. Don’t! Don’t compare yourselves in this or anything else! It doesn’t matter if you are a working mom or a stay at home mom, if you make sure you are giving your family the time they need and you are giving your children your time and energy, that will go a long way! They will see how much you love them and care about them and in the end, that is the most important thing. Don’t worry about others or how other mom’s perceive you, instead think of that little one who adores you!!! Be encouraged today- you have one of the hardest jobs in the world and you are doing it! You are rocking it!

Mother’s Day is difficult for some women who may desire to be a mother, but who face the inability to bear children. In this passage, God describes how he gives women great joy, even those who experience the pain of barrenness.

What a cool miracle that women get to be a part of- Motherhood!

Okay this post made me tear up, Erin! What a beautiful description of your mother and all that she has added to your life! I also love the verses that you shared. It is so true that being a teacher can sometimes make us feel so grateful for our parents and all that they have done in our lives when we see some of our students’ family struggles. I love your line about not having to be a “cool pinterest mom” =) it’s so true that a mother’s love and presense mean so much more!! I have definitely felt more grateful as a teacher looking back at my childhood and the love of both my parents- I was so incredibly blessed! So glad you liked the verses too..
